I am a senior undergraduate student in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Missouri. My research aims to use experimental characterization to understand and predict anisotropic failure conditions of additively manufactured components fabricated via fused deposition modeling. I believe that a better understanding of how these materials fail under real loading conditions will allow us to use 3D-printed specimens for structural purposes. I am most interested in determining the material’s strength capacities and apply that knowledge within a topology optimization framework to design and 3D print functional components.
